Environmental Education
C4 provides hands-on nature-based learning opportunities to all PK-12 Lake County School District students. These experiences support student growth and foster a sense of wonder and responsibility for the environment.

Farm Visits
Cloud City Farm, the highest farm in North America and the only produce farm in our community, serves as a living classroom for all local youth.
As students dig, plant, harvest, and taste, they engage all their senses and see the growth possible right here at home
Just a short walk from school, the farm makes real world food systems education accessible to every student.

Field Lessons
C4 staff coordinate and lead at least one off-campus outdoor learning day each year for all K–6 students. These hands-on experiences deepen classroom learning and connect students with the land and community around them.
At places like Hayden Meadows, the National Fish Hatchery, and Camp Hale, students explore geology, ecology, and biology through hands-on observation and discovery outdoors.
-

Classroom Extensions
C4 staff and PK–12 teachers collaborate on project based lessons that bring curriculum to life w real world problem solving. Students investigate questions, collect data, and take action in projects that range from a single day to a full unit.
Examples include improving cafeteria waste diversion with data, growing microgreens to test the scientific method, and building greenhouse models to apply STEM concepts.

Project Dream
Our team supports Project Dream, LCSD’s out-of-school time program, with weekly Farm Club and Friday groups. Students enjoy farm activities like planting and harvesting produce, turning compost, and observing the fish and bees.

Rockies Rock
Each summer we host all Rockies Rock groups at Cloud City Farm. This is often one of the highlights of students’ time at camp! Campers help harvest (and eat!) veggies, play games, and learn about pollination, plants, and composting.
