This year, Cloud City Conservation Center and the Lake County Public Library are partnering to offer three High Altitude Vegetable Gardening workshops facilitated by Loretta McEllhiney and Lani Meyer. Topics to be covered: seed starting, soil and compost, raised beds, plant selection and planting times, and shade and frost protection. One session will be entirely virtual (Thursday, April 1st, from 6:30-7:30pm - see other Facebook event) and can be watched via Zoom that evening, or at your convenience on the library website once the recording has been uploaded.

The two other sessions (Saturday, April 10, from 1-2pm or 2-3pm) will be in-person and capped at 10 participants per session. The in-person sessions will be hands-on and feature both seed starting information and materials to start your own seeds (face coverings and social distancing required). Loretta McEllhiney works for the US Forest Service and is a longtime Leadville urban gardener with a greenhouse, backyard composting, and chickens. Lani Meyer is the Farm Manager at Cloud City Farm on McWethy Drive.

Este año, Cloud City Conservation Center y la Biblioteca Pública del Condado de Lake se colaboran para ofrecer tres talleres de horticultura a gran altitud dirigidos por Loretta McEllhiney y Lani Meyer. Temas que se cubrirán: inicio de semillas, suelo y abono, selección de un sitio de jardín, camas elevadas, selección de plantas y tiempos de siembra, y protección contra las heladas y la sombra.
