Join Cloud City Conservation Center for Soul Fire Farm's Uprooting Racism in the Food System Training. Thanks to funding from Resilient Lake County we are able to offer 30 spots in their April 7th training for Lake County community members and organizations interested in taking steps towards dismantling racism within our food system and community. In addition Cloud City Conservation Center will host a post meeting on Thursday April 8th 6-7:30PM to debrief the training as a community.
Before signing up we ask that you can commit to:
Pre-Work: Please allocate 2-3 hours to complete the preparatory work for this course, which includes an exploration of the “4 I’s of Oppression” and a reflection on their applicability to your organization and community. You can join the March LCFAC meeting at 7pm-8pm for a structured opportunity to explore the pre-work questions (Date TBD).
April 7th Workshop (Required): The interactive virtual workshop consists of two sections of 1h 25m with a break in the middle. Topics and activities include –
A history of racial oppression and resistance in the food system
A personal reflection on privilege, bias, and decision-points
Completion of an equity rubric to assess your organization’s role in ending racism
Review of 100+ actions you can take in your organization toward racial equity
Beginning an action plan toward uprooting racism in your organization and community
April 8th Community Discussion (Required) hosted by Cloud City Conservation Center
Post-Work: Your organization’s participants should convene after the workshop to complete the action plan. If desired we can provide a suggested agenda and/or arrange for a facilitator for your organization's post meeting.
