The American Southwest

THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST is a wild and unforgettable journey down the mighty Colorado River.  Narrated by Quannah Chasinghorse, the film beautifully showcases the region’s abundant wildlife, confronts the ecological impacts of dams and river depletion, and boldly advocates for increased water and wildlife conservation.  The Fin and Fur Films production travels through legendary landscapes from the viewpoint of some of the Southwest’s most charming characters… such as wetland-building beavers, bugling bull elk, and desert-adapted rattlesnakes.  Made in association with Natives Outdoors, THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST highlights the region’s deep cultural history and the crucial need to better manage the river for both wildlife and society to thrive.

Lake County Climate Action Plan Public Presentation

Lake County Climate Action Plan—Adopted & Coming to You! ✌🏼💚🌎| Public Presentation 📅 Tuesday, May 26 | 5:30–7:00 pm 📍 CMC Library

After months of planning and community conversations, we're thrilled to share that the Board of County Commissioners officially adopted the Lake County Climate Action Plan (CAP) on May 5th!

The CAP charts a course for our mountain community to strengthen resilience, reduce emissions, and protect the people, landscapes, and livelihoods that make Lake County home — today and into the future.

Come learn about the CAP's key focus areas — Buildings & Energy, Transportation & Mobility, Food Systems & Waste, Natural Environment, Water, and Administration — and how the plan connects with the One Community Project. Whether you're a longtime advocate or just getting curious, this is your chance to hear what's ahead and how you can be part of it. See you there!

Lake County Climate Action Plan Vision: Lake County will act together to address climate change — strengthening resilience, reducing emissions, and protecting the people, landscapes, and livelihoods that define our mountain community — today and into the future.

After a challenging winter, Leadville Main Street teamed up with local partners to find ways to support the small businesses at the heart of our community, ensuring they thrive for years to come.

Joining forces with Visit Leadville Twin Lakes, the Leadville/Lake County Economic Development Corporation, the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, and local favorites like Tennessee Pass Nordic Center, Cookhouse & Sleep YurtsMelanzanaTreeline KitchenMarley Seifert Designs and more, we created a plan that celebrates shopping small while offering the chance to win some truly hard-to-find prizes.

So many groups are coming together to make this possible, and we invite you to join the fun, support local, and share in the joy of loving Leadville and Twin Lakes.

All About Leadville & Twin Lakes

Spring in Leadville and Twin Lakes is a season of renewal. As the pace of life slows and the community settles into its local rhythm, it’s the perfect time to reconnect – with the people, places, and small businesses that make our towns truly special.

This spring, Leadville Main Street is launching a brand-new event and it’s your chance to shop small and win big! From May 1–3, 2026, join us for the first All About Leadville Twin Lakes weekend, a celebration of community, local flavor, and the small businesses that keep our towns vibrant, even during the quieter seasons.

Explore, support, and discover why shopping small is the biggest win of all.

Over three days, downtown Leadville and Twin Lakes come alive in a new way. It’s less about rushing and more about wandering – stepping into locally owned shops, lingering over meals, and uncovering something around every corner.
