We’ll be sipping free Zero Day coffee and exploring how renewable energy and energy efficiency are shaping Lake County’s future. From local solar projects to home upgrades that cut costs, we’ll talk about:

Mark your calendar! Colorado Mountain College is thrilled to host its annual Sustainability & Ecosystem Science Conference on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This year’s virtual gathering highlights innovative, real‑world research from our graduating Integrated Sustainability and Ecosystem Science & Stewardship students, presenting work that directly impacts the health, resilience, and future of our mountain communities.
We’re also honored to welcome a special keynote from Len Necefer, Ph.D., who will present “Restoration and Resilience in Climate Solutions.” Dr. Necefer is known for weaving together engineering, public policy, Indigenous rights, climate action, and outdoor storytelling to spark bold new approaches to sustainability. Drawing from work in Arctic Alaska, the Navajo Nation, and the San Juan River, he’ll explore how curiosity, connection, and creativity can help us restore ecosystems and shape more resilient futures.

Author Talk with Camille Dungy
Join C4 and the Lake County Public Library on Thursday April 30th at FREIGHT for an evening with Colorado author Camille Dungy! Featuring dinner, a reading, Q&A, and book signings.
Camille T. Dungy is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently Trophic Cascade, winner of the Colorado Book Award, and a Guidebook to Relative Strangers: Journeys into Race, Motherhood, and History, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in criticism. She edited Black Nature: Four Centuries of African American Nature Poetry and co-edited the From the Fishouse poetry anthology. Currently, she is the poetry editor for Orion magazine and hosts Immaterial, a podcast from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Magnificent Noise.
A University Distinguished Professor at Colorado State University, her further honours include the 2021 Academy of American Poets Fellowship, a 2019 Guggenheim Fellowship, an American Book Award, two NAACP Image Award nominations, and fellowships from the NEA in both prose and poetry. Soil: The Story of a Black Mother’s Garden is her most recent book.
